Kuan Yin, or Guanyin, is the Buddhist god of compassion. Different Asian cultures have different incarnations of the god. The Chinese version often has 8 arms, each with a different implement to assist in her mission. She is also worshiped as the carrier of the dead to the afterlife and the god who provides safety to sailors. Treatment given to a photo of a statue of the goddess to add dimension and resemble a painting. Original photograph by Nadalyn Larsen.
From the Artist: I am a photographer with an eclectic eye. I shoot anything that catches my attention, whether a detail of a larger object or the expanse of a landscape. When photographing places or events, I strive to convey the feeling or impression I felt from the experience as much as sharing the scene. I like to experiment with my art, particularly creating abstract photographs. I am challenged to take my photos from the seat of a mobility device. Despite my challenges, I have traveled throughout the US and internationally, capturing the world from my perspective. I hope you enjoy my work. Feel free to contact me through this site if you have questions or requests. Also, please feel free to comment on any work that you find...
