Description
Jerpoint Abbey was one of the most amazing places we visited in Ireland. An outstanding Cistercian abbey founded in the 12th century with Romanesque details dates from this period. In the transept chapels are 13th to 16th century tomb sculpture. The tower and cloister date from the 15th century. The sculptured cloister arcade has unique carvings. A camera bug could make half a day here. It is Stunning and incredibly well-preserved. The details of the architecture and ornamentation are amazing. There is a sense of peace, tranquility, and joy about the place. The Irish talk about thin places where the veil between this world and the spiritual world are very thin. One can feel that this is truly a thin place. It is magical. Original photo by Nadalyn Larsen.
