Melrose Plantation was built in 1796 by Louis Metoyer, one of the sons of the largest and most wealthy Creole, or freed slave families in Louisiana. They themselves were slave owners. When Metoyer died in 1838, Melrose Plantation and its land, crops, businesses, and other assets were worth over $100,000. This does not include the other land and businesses owned by the Metoyer family. Original photo by Nadalyn Larsen.
From the Artist: I am a photographer with an eclectic eye. I shoot anything that catches my attention, whether a detail of a larger object or the expanse of a landscape. When photographing places or events, I strive to convey the feeling or impression I felt from the experience as much as sharing the scene. I like to experiment with my art, particularly creating abstract photographs. I am challenged to take my photos from the seat of a mobility device. Despite my challenges, I have traveled throughout the US and internationally, capturing the world from my perspective. I hope you enjoy my work. Feel free to contact me through this site if you have questions or requests. Also, please feel free to comment on any work that you find...
