Description
Flavigny-sur-Ozerain is a picturesque walled medieval village in the Burgundy region of France. It is famous for its aniseed candy and for being the setting of the movie Chocolat. The village is the site of the 11th century former Benedictine monastery, Abbey of St. Pierre, a Romanesque church. Flavigny Abbey is a now a busy abbey occupied by the Dominican order It was the monks at this abbey who were the original makers of the well-known aniseed candy, Anise de Flavigny. It is a charming village with very friendly people. There was something magical about winding through the narrow streets of centuries old buildings with the unmistakable fragrance of anis in the air.
