Description
In the background is the Church and village plaza used in the movie Chocolat. Flavigny-sur-Ozerain is a picturesque walled medieval village in the Burgundy region of France. It is famous for its aniseed candy and for being the setting of the movie Chocolat. The village is the site of the 11th century former Benedictine monastery, Abbey of St. Pierre, a Romanesque church. Flavigny Abbey is a now a busy abbey occupied by the Dominican order It was the monks at this abbey who were the original makers of the well-known aniseed candy, Anise de Flavigny. It is a charming village with very friendly people. There was something magical about winding through the narrow streets of centuries old buildings with the unmistakable fragrance of anis in the air. What an incredible perspective! I've never been to Flavigny, but this shot makes me feel as if I'm right there on that road. It’s also amazing how you’ve captured the town’s various colors, almost feels like three styles in one (sepia / black-and-white / color). The angle is also impressive, leaving the viewer curious about what’s beyond or around those doors/windows/pathways. Always been a huge fan of the film Chocolat and this photograph just enhances it. Thank you for yet another wonderful experience via your photography.

WOW!! What a great complement!! Thank you so much for your kind words. One of my objectives through my photography is to give the viewer an experience and not just a pretty picture. I'm so glad I was able to do that with this photo.
