Description
Meandering the narrow roads through the French countryside is an excellent way to feel in touch with the French way of life. There are countless small villages, many with as few as 20 or so houses. The villages are often only a very few miles apart. All were similar in that there was a clear absence of modern buildings in most, and all had a village church. The houses dated from medieval times to 19th century. Most were made of stone or stone covered in plaster. Passing through village after village of ancient houses gave me the feeling that I had traveled back in time. Original photo by Nadalyn Larsen.
